A Year In Review (but don't look back!)
The past year has been an interesting one. I have worked harder than I probably ever have, and I learned a lot. Allow me to share some insight that I hope will help you begin your new year on the right foot:
First - you know more than you think you do. Yes, it's true! Algebra, Geometry, English, Civics....all those courses that you thought you would never use, actually were needed this year. Whether it is slogging through a budget, drawing out office space, writing press releases and thank you notes, or navigating local government, you already have the tools at your disposal to find the answer. You can thank your teachers when you see them!
Next - trust yourself. You are the only one who knows YOUR job. Trust that you will do a good job; great can come later. Be confident that you will succeed. And listen to that little voice inside your head (or your gut). It will never steer you wrong.
And finally, and this is the difficult one....don't listen to the nay-sayers. Surround yourself with people who are positive, who want to see you and your company or organization succeed. Those who will try to bring you down are "re"acting from a place of fear. Stand your ground and follow your course. You will succeed! (And karma.....just sayin'!)
Communication is more than just speaking and listening. It involves knowing your audience, but more importantly, you must know yourself. Because if you don't know what message you are communicating, no one else will, either.
Take stock of the past year, and move on!
Happy New Year, and remember, 2-Way Street Communications is here to help you, because successful communication is a two-way street!
